HORRORS OF THE BURMESE MASSACRE.
A Times London special says : — The Burraah massacre was conducted with all the refinements of Oriental fcarbarity, recalling the horrors of the Cawnpore during the mutiny ; only, fortunately, the victims were not Europeans. The Prince, whom the King most hated, was compelled to see his wife outraged, his children mutilated, his mother beaten to death with sticks, and their bodieß thrown into a well, where other victims were hurled m mutilated confusion. Children were Hacked and torn limb from limb before their parents' eyes. No form of cruelty was absent from their last moments. The European population is greatly excited. The prompt action of the Viceroy has already brought reinforcements on the scene for defensive operations. This appears to have had a wholesome effect ; the King having dispatched an envoy to the Viceroy.
