PUBLIC NOTICE. rpHE attention of SLAUGHTER- -*- HOUSEKEEPERS is called to the following Section of the Slaughterhouses Act, 1877 J— .26. Every keeper of an Abattoir or Slaughter-house' jin -New Zealand " shall keep a bo'olc/in : which he shall enter'- a description^of all cattle slaughtered in such Abattoir or Slaughter-house, specifying the color, marks, brands,' sex, and apparent age of such cattle, and, if purchased, containing the name of the person from whom the same shall have been so purchased, and the date of slaughter. The aforesaid book Bhall be open to inspection by any Inspector and any Justice of the Peace on demand, and to every other person on payment of a fee of one shilling for : every inspection thereof ; and a re- i port in writing for the week ending eaoh Saturday of all cattle slaughtered,, with the particulars above stated, shall be transmitted . weekly ahd before the end of the week succeeding that to which the report refers, by and under the hand of such keeper of every such Abattoir or Slaughter-house is situate ; and if airy such keeper of an Abattoir or of a Licensed Slaughter-house shall neglect to keep such book, or shall emit to make any . such entry therein, or shall g^ make a false entry therein, or shall fail or refuse to make such weekly report within the timo and contain- ; ing the particulars aforesaid to the Inspector as aforesaid, or to pro- .. produce such book when so required by the Inspector, or by any ' Justice, or by any other person after, payment or tender by such person of the fee for inspection < thereof, he shall for every first offence forfeit and pay a sum not ex- ; ceeding FIVE POUNDS, and for \ every subsequent offence a sum not i exceeding TWENTY POUNDS. : :s . % ' GEORGE DAVIS, . ■ ' > Inspector.
