MUNICIPAL BYE-LAWS. ~T~N pursuance of provisions of Section -*- No. 340 and 82, "Municipal Corporation Act, 1876," the following proposed Bye-law has been made at a special meeting of the Gisborne Borough Council, held on the 6th of March, 1879, and is now published for general information. BYE-LAW, No. 14. 1. That from and after the coming into force of this law, it shall not be lawful to use in the ereotion of buildings, or the construction of outside walls, excepting front and framing which may be of wood, any material other than stone, brick, concrete, or corrugated iron, within the following limits of the Borough of Gisborne, viz.. both sides of Gladstone-road, from its junction with Read's Quay to Grey-street, and to a depth of not less than two-and-a-half chains on either side. 2. That it shall not be lawful to U3e shingles or other combustible material for the roofing of any new building, or the repairing or renewing the roof of any old building within the following limitß, viz. : — Description] of Boundaries All that portion of the Borough of Gisborne, commencing on. the intersection of the Town Boundary (near Adair's New Wharf) with the Turanganui River ; thence following the Turanganui and Taruheru Rivers to the intersection of Roebuck Road ; then along Roebuck Road to the Town Boundary ; thence along said Boundary .to the commenciug point. . 3. That all chimneys within the limits of the Borough shall be of brick or stone, and shall not be less than three feet above the ridge. 4. Any person or persons offending against either of the above Bye-laws shall forfeit and pay a penalty not exceeding the sum of £5 for every such offence, provided that every day during which such prohibited material shall be used shall be deemed a fresh and Beparate hreaph of such Bye-laws. 5. A fee of £1 Is, shall be payable to the Borough Fund for any any every inspection, superintendance, or other service performed by the Borough Engineer under any Bye-laws, such to be paid by the person at whose request such inspection, superintendance, or service was made.
