March 19. Tenders will be opened on the 26th inst. for the 4 per cent Queensland loan. Colonial debentures are in great demand. Capitalists turning their attention to Australian investments generally. King Alphonso of Spain has been betrothed to the sister of the late Queen Mercedes. The Sultan of Turkey has entertained the officers of the British fleet at a grand banquet. Victorian debentures rising, and much iii demand. A very interesting paper has been read before the Colonial Institute by Sir Arthur Gordon, on Fiji. The Due De Granimont, Lord Granville, Sir Michael Hicka-Beach, Lord Cardwell, and Lord Melbourne, all commended Sir Arthur Gordon's eneriry in Fiji. Sir Michael Hicks- Beach inferred Sir Arthur Gordon would not return there.
