RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

This Day.

(Before H. Kenrick, Esq., R.M.) . CIVIL CASES. Stubba v. Carrington. — : Mr. W. Brassey for plaintiff. Judgment for plaintiff for amount claimed £4 10s and costs. Kidd v. Union s.s. Company, and Oolebrook v. Twitau, and Breingham, were adjourned for hearing to Friday the 28fch inst. Heni Kopua v. W. S. Greene. — Mr. Cuff for plaintiff, and Mr. W. Brassey for defendant. The claim, in the case, was the value of certain turkeys alleged by the plaintiff to be her property. The defendant having driven them off her land, and taking possession of them. A number of natives were examined relative to the ownership of the birds, and they all concurred in the statement that they were Heni's. On the contrary, defendant claimed them as his property, stating that in order to have a distinctive breed, he had bought of Mr. Bradley some light-colored turkeys, and that the ones now in dispute were them together with their progeny. As they were mostly all light-colored and speckled birds, he would swear that they were\ his. Agnes Greene, a daughter of defendant, an intelligent girl of about ten years of age, was examined and affirmed that the turkeys in question were her fathers. She knew them to be his, because they were nearly all young birds, and were reared on the farm. His Worship after summing up the evidence, said that the plaintiff had not sufficiently proved her right to the possession of the Turkeys. As she had not done this he would non-suit the case with costs. ALLEGED LARCENY. David Hastings, and F. Dorrington were charged on the information of Mr. Evans with having stolen some apples the property of plaintiff. Mr. Robinson, who appeared for defendants applied for an adjournment in order to produce a very material witness in the case. His Worship ordered the adjournment of the case to Tuesday next the 4th March.
