February 22. The printers have neither struck nor given notice. They now want to arbitrate. The Post proprietors to-night gave all their men a week's notice, and told them henceforth that no Society men would be employed. John Kebbell, an old settler, has been found dead in his garden, . close to his own door, this morning. The cause of death is supposed to be heart disease. A Gazette issued to-day, announces that letters to Bolivia, Chili, Ecudor, and Peru, via 'Frisco and Panama, will be charged Is. 6d. for every half-ounce, and newspapers 3d. A presentation was made this morning to Henry T. Clark, on his retirement from the post of. Undersecretary to the Native Department, which he has filled so long and ably. The presentation, which was made by J. E. Young, on behalf of all officers of the Department, consisted of a very handsome tea and coffee service in .solid sterling silver, engraved with Mr. Clark's monogram, valued at 60 guineas. William Lyon, one of the original settlers in this district, died last night.
