AUCKLAND.
This Day. On receipt of Captain Worsp'a telegram from Tauranga about the Taupo, Mr. D. Gouk, who is familiar with de.aling Avith vessels which have gone on shore, was consulted, and stated that he believed with proper appliances, the Taupo could be got off. Accordingly necessary apparatus was immediately nought for. One centrifugal pump has been taken down in the Rowena, and another procured and put on board the Hawea. Two engines were also put on board the Hawea to drive pumps. The plan of operations will be to pump water from the compartments fore and aft, and it is believed when this is done, the vessel will float, the engineroom compartment being then the only one filled with water. The Taupo having been floated will then be got on to the beach which is within a quarter of a mile. Efforts will then be made to patch up the hole. If that cannot be done, a box will be built over to prevent the water rising.
