New Plymouth, January 6. Te Whitt having heard rumors that the native* were assembling at Pouhaka, to arrange for fresh fighting, has sent messages out to contradict the statement: They are authorised to tell the natives and to make it generally known that there is -to be no more fighting m 'the district. MrKelly,MH.R., andMrWeston, the proprietor of the Taranaki Herald, have been charged by the Harbor Engineer with conspiring to oust him from his appointment. A committee of the Harbor Board are investigating the charges. The matter has caused some excitement here. At the Government land sale on Saturday, several sections of rural land m a standing bush near Stratford-road sold at from £3 to £8 per acre.
