Mrs. Roots is at present on a brief visit to Parap'aramnu. Miss Kickell, formerly of the staff of the local hospital, is the guest of Mrs. R. M. Stevens. Mrs. W. Kelly and Misses G. and P. Kelly, who have been enjoying a holiday in Wellington, returned home on Saturday. Mr. ami Mrs. ■S. EdgcrlOy, Wanganui, wore the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. White for the holiday season. Mr. W. Lamb, caretaker of the local Domain, bad the misfortune to slip on the footpath in the maJin street and strike his head against the concrete ledge of a shop window, necessitating the insertion cf three v stitches in the wound. Mrs. J. Jackson and her small son Jeffrey, who have been the guests of Mrs. L. T. Adams, have returned to Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. H. Miller and family have returned to Auckland, after spending a holiday with Mrs. H. J. Peacocke. Mr. Brian Walton, son of .Rev. ami Mrs. W. H. Walton, has been accepted for service with the K.Z. Air Force, and will go into camp at Wigram on the 27th ihst. Sonus .‘stl schoolboys from, ti c Okato district passed through Patea on Saturday after having visited the Centennial Exhibition. The party was in charge of the Rev; E. Q. Gibblc, vicar of Okato, who is well known in boxing circles in Taranaki. Lieut. McKay,, of the local Corps of the Salvation Army has received notice of his transfer to the Eltbara Boys’ Home. • . Lieutenant McKay, who - has i been in charge of the local Corps for the past two years, will be greatly missed in athletic circles in Patea.
