The an in:>a 1 sports of the Kakaramca Sports and Agricultural Association were : held on ; Wednesday in fine but cold weather, and in the presence of a large number of spectators from all parts of the district. Thanks to the excellent team work of the committee-, under its genial president, Mr. E. Pearce, its vice-president, Mr. P. Oakley, and, the good organising work of the secretary, Mr.. C. P. Lord, and his assistant, Mr. George Garrick, the whole of the events were got off well on time and without a hitch of any kind. 'The judges wore Messrs, W. McL’Dowic and-E. McKay, (hacks and jumping), Mr. S. C. Mcßae (ponies), Mr, W. P. Wallace (calves), Mr. W, Patterson (running), and Mr. E. W. Haddow (national dancing). The following were the, chief stewards: Messrs S, Hobbs and P.-J. Oakley (calves), Messrs. A; Ward, H., J. S., and E. J. Watt (horses), Messrs, A. McDonald and N. Watt (running), Mr. P. C. Hamblyu (dancing), Mr. G. Meharry (children's races), Mr. J. Coachman (nail driving), Mr. E. Oakley. (chain stepping), Mr. C. J. Gardiner (handicapper). The open leaping chal-. The. jumping events, as usual, created a large- amount of interest, and though there wore no spills, the jump-ing-'yvas--not- so . good as ifi previous years, ‘few of the horses going over .the jumps without touching themj As usual, there were, a number of sideshows, which added greatly to the enjoyment of' the younger folk. Mr. W. P, Wallace, of Waverlcy, was to the fore' with a very interesting exhibit of electrical goods, including an electric Avashcr, wringer, and iroqter, a milking machine,- vacuum cleaner, and radio. Mr. Wallace deserves success for his enterprise in bringing these aids to comfort in the home before the notice 'of tho people. Tho , catering Avas in the hands of the members of the Women’s Institute, and left nothing to bo desired. The Patea Municipal Band, -under Bandmaster McGrath, 'was present, and enlivened the pro : cccdings, throughout the day. In the evening a dance Avas held in the hall, Avhon thc trophies Avon during the day were presented by the president, Mr. E. ‘ Pearce. The following were the results,
