EGMONT-WANGANUI HUNT CLUB.

ANNUAL BALL. On Friday evening the members of the Egmont-Wnnganui Hunt Club 1 eld their 1931 ball, under very pleasant conditions as far ns the weather was concerned. All day the committees were hard at work preparing the hall and supper arrangements. The dancing hall decorations were most strikingly done in the club's colours, scarlet and green streamers festooned with artificial roses, and hunting scenes decorating the walls. Misses J. Parsons and H. Simmons were responsible, and they loft nothing undone. Altogether, - with the pungas and greenery on the stage and the coloured lighting, one could not mistake the celebrations, and realised that the hunting season was closing for another year with its usual function. In the evening the bright frocks of the dancers, who arrived from Auckland, New Plymouth, Stratford, Hawera, Paten, Wanganui, Marlon* Wellington, and Hawke V Bay, made a; pretty picture, the Avhole atmosphere being one of light-hearted gaiety ami ‘enjoyment. Misses M. Brewer and C. Walkimton, who underlook the decorating of the supper tables, arc to be complimented on the taelo displayed, the material used for the work hero* being bcarlct camellias and berries,j artistically arranged in bowls and baskets, with the overhead streamers in matching shades. On one table the huntsman, with his jjnek of hounds, was in evidence, as also was the master on the white mount. Mrs. Simmons and Miss Lupton, who were in charge of the supper, had the satisfaction of seeing the tables temptingly spread rwith dainties of every kind. The music, which was supplied by Wills’ Orchestra, was excellent, and the committee have every reason to be pleased with the result of the entertainment.
