SOCIAL AND GIFT EVENING. MISSES H. AND V. WALL HONOURED. Ou Thursday evening a social and gift evening, arranged by the members 'of St. Andrew’s, Bible Class’, and Girls' Auxiliary, was held in the Sunday School Hall in honour of the Misses Helen and Vera Wall, who are to bo married during next week, nne hall had been very tastefully decorated with hydrangea and spring blossoms by the friends of the brides to be, creating a touch of spring. During the evening musical items were given by the following: Songs, Mrs. I’. V. Graves, Mrs. Gifkius, Miss Boer; pianoforte duct, Misses Beer and M. Christensen; recitation, Miss Paterson; humorous dialogue, Mi?; Paterson and Mr. W. Taylor, with competitions interspersed, these adding much to the enjoyment of the evening. At the close of the programme the Rev. H. C. Stuart, who was in the chair, presented the Misses Wall with very gay and useful bouquets composed of brightly draped clothes pegs. After this came the ordeal of opening the parcels; which covered two large ping pong tables, and when all were opened the gifts made a splendid display of beautiful and useful articles, this testifying to the esteem in which the guests of the evening wore held. After Mr. M. Spence had returned thanks for the gifts, a very enjoyable supper was handed round, this bringing to a close a very pleasant evening.
The Misses Wall have been entertained at several private parties during the week, one also being held at Wanganui, whore some friends entertained them at a pantry afternoon.
