ELECTRIC LIGHT SPORTS
ON WEDNESDAY NEXT,
The borough electric light staff, assisted by members of the local Athletic Club, have been .busy 'erecting poles and arranging the necessary wiring for the electric light sports, which arc to be held in the town on Wednesday next. These sports will mark another milestone in the history of the town, being the first of their kind that have so far been held in Patea.
■ The programme is an excellent one, containing, besides the usual running and cycling events, two ladies’ races, several entries for which have already been promised. The reinstatement of the local cyclists as amateurs should result in some good racing being witnessed. Good form on the track has been shown by J. Julian. Entries close w r ith the secretary tomorrow. In addition to the sports, which are timed to start at 8 p.m., a dance in the open on the grass will be held at the conclusion, provided the weather is favourable.
