PIG MAULS BABY

NARROW ESCAPE FROM DEATH. WAIKATO FARM INCIDENT. Severe injuries were inflicted on an 18 months ’ male child by an infuriated sow on W. R. Roberts ’ farm at Ruhuhia, near Hamilton, on Sunday. The child had a narrow escape from death. Russel Cooper, of Hamilton, father of the infant, and a four-year-old boy were visiting Roberts’ farm and the children -were left in a motor truck. Miss Roberts, glancing out of the window, was horrified to see the sow mauling the baby in the paddock. Rushing out, she beat the sow off, but not before the infant had received severe head injuries and bruises.
