FA THE If AND FOLK SONs. 215 YEARS’ RAILWAY SEISVTCE. (A remarkable record of family service on tire British railways is revealed by the retirement of an Edinburgh passenger guard, Air. George Uairhairn. Air. Fairbairu lias completed 51 years with the London and fXurth-castcru Railway Company. His father had 52 years’ railway service, and lie has three brothers with 142 years’ service between them, making a total for the ■five, members of this family of 215 years of railway service. Air. George Fairbairu has had charge of trains conveying Royalty to Braemar and other places on many occasions. and he was guard of the first through passenger train to run from Edinburgh to Aberdeen, via the Forth and Tay B,ridges. He has 110011 4.5 years a guard, and during that time has travelled 2,855,280 miles and carried more fliian 1,400,000 passengers.
