LORRY CRASHES OVER BANK

MAORI CHILD EATALLY HURT

A fatal accident occurred ou Saturday evening on the Rotorua-Taupo Rd. when a lorry went over a steep bank. The circumstances are peculiar. The forry stuck in loose ground two miles from the scene of the accident and was towed to safety by a car driven by E. Bellworthy. The light of tho lorry failed and the driver followed Bellworthy’s ear for two miles. Bellworth}', hearing a crash, stopped and found thio lorry had disappeared over a 100 ft bank. He obtained assistance from a Public Works Department construction camp. Tho driver, Kora Wharckawa, was found uninjured, but a child named Manipoto Tukoreka, son of Rewi Manipoto, of Whakavcwarewa. was dead.
