SENSATIONAL ROBBERY
SAWMILL HA ADS' WAGES
BAG WITH OVER £4OO MISSING
A sensational robbery is reported from the Kivcrton district. Early on Saturday morning a sum of over £4OO, representing tlie wages for sawmill hands, was stolen from a locomotive which is attached to Moore's sawmill in the Longwoods and used to convey the payroll from the Kivcrton Bank to the mill. It is understood that the
locomotive, which was in charge of a driver and a fireman, left Eiverton as early on Saturday morning with sKe wages for the sawmill hands. The mill is about To miles from Riverton in dense bush country, and when about a mile and a-half from the mill the locomotive was stopped to load some gravel, necessitating the temporary vacation of the engine by the fireman
and driver. It is alleged that here the bag containing the money was missed. The police arc investigating.
