Mrs. P. S. Finlaysnn and Miss lloryl Finlaysorr have returned 'i'rom n month’s holiday tour of the North Island. Mrs. G. Pettigrew is making good progress after her recent illness. Mrs. J. Graham and her daughter Leslie have returned to Mangaweka. .Miss E. L. Paterson is no tv on the relieving staff of the 'Manchester- St., School, Peilcling.
Miss Bonnie Hilliard, who was engaged to he married to tire late Lieut. Keith Anderson, is a passenger on the Aorangi for Honolulu, where sire wil’ spend a holiday and attempt-to regain her health. Lieut. Anderson was the pilot of tire, ill-fated Kookaburra, which was lost when searching for the Southern Cross.
Tahiti promises to In* popular as a holiday resort. Several Dunedin ladies have taken bungalows there for six we eks. Th cy have solved the labour problem by engaging housekeepers.
Evidence of considerable unemployment among trained typists and women book-keepers in the city was provided by over 200 applieat ions for- a clerical positron in an Auckland office l last week. The groat majority of the young women who applied for the position were qualified typists, and nearly all had undergone courses in business training colleges.
