COURSING AT PATEA
CLASS STAKE TO MISS FLETE
OUR JACK WINS THE OPEN
Although line weather favoured the Patea-Hawera Coursing Club for its oncrday meeting on Wednesday, the attendance of the public was disappointing. The meeting was otherwise, howvery successful, the hares being iii good form, the dogs in line fettle, and the resultant courses of a very interesting nature. There were few kills during the day.
The club is to be commended on several important improvements made to the enclosure at Whonuakuru, so that better courses arc assured and the public arc afforded an uninterrupted view of the proceedings. The removal or the judge’s stand to the further side of the enclosure gives the judge a better opportunity of following the courses. To ensure the hares making a straight ( run from the boxes and the dogs sighting, two scrim fences have been provided for the first few yards of the course.
