An amusing incident occurred at a local dance recently, when an entertainer, who had been applauded for a very fine recitation, gave as an encore an illustration of Avhat h» termed the Taranaki handshake. Calling a friend to him he squatted down and locked his hands-together, rvith the palms outward and the two thumbs hanging down.
