Exports point out that Captain Amundsen ’s difficulties must have begun when the machines alighted on the surface of the ice, where they would be quickly and .securely frozen into the pack. How, then, will Amundsen liberty an aeroplane weighing tons? Algarsson’s airship now being fitted out at Liverpool may yet succour Amundsen if the latter’s proverbial :;ood luck holds out. AMUNDSEN'S PLANS NEW YORK, May 27. Mrs Vernon Prentice, sister of Elsworth, who is accompanying Amundsen, says that the parly had no intention of returning to Spitsbergen, but would fly to Alaska, and if possible march' down to civilisation, possibly not arriving till the autumn of next year.
