THE LAUNCHING CEREMONY A recent issue of the “Montrose (Scotland) Star'' states that there was launched by the Coaster Construction Company, Ltd., Montrose, the twinscrew motor-ship Inaha, built to the order of the South Taranaki Shipping Company, Ltd., Patea, New Zealand.. The keel of this vessel was laid as recently as May 4, and special efforts are being made to meet the requirements of the owners for the earliest possible delivery. The vessel is of the following dimensions:—Length 116 ft, B.P. breadth 23ft, and depth 10ft Sin. She is of a somewhat special type, being insulated in the held for the shipment of dairy produce from the company’s depot to Wellington. The accommodation will bo fitted on superior lines, and electric lighting is being provided throughout. Special interest attaches to the machinery. Her twin-screw oil engines are of Plenty's make, of 300 horse-power. Large electric generators tire installed in the engine-room to provide the necessary current for the electric winches. Mr Grainger, managing director of the owners’ company, is giving the work his personal supervision. The naming ceremony was performed by Mrs Gibson, New Zealand.
By a curious coincidence, the vessel, which should reach Patea in about two months' time, will havo as its chief engineer for the voyage Mr Roberts, father of Miss C. E. Roberts,' B.Sc., who was recently appointed first assistant at the Patea District High School.,.
