«■ Mrs F. Naismith left to-day on an extended holiday trip to Sydney and Hobart. Miss Power, who liras been on a holiday visit to Hawke's Bay, returned home on Monday. The death took ’place on Sunday, at Auckland, after a brief illness ,of Mr J. E. Wilson, E.M., who was well known throughout the Taranaki district. The deceased, who was, a son of Captain Wilson, of New Plymouth, was-born at Urenui and educated at tho New Plymouth High Sehc.ol. After practising law for some yrcars, lie was made a Stipendiary Magistrate, and was later appointed Chief Justice of Samoa, but later resigned th is position, and on returning to New Zealand was again appointed a Magistrate at Auckland. Mr Wilson was Mayor of Now Plymouth for some tiivic, and took an' active interest in public affairs. He married a daughter of Mr Lewis Hamertou, of Inglewood, -and is survived by his widow and. young family, as well as by his father, .brother and sister, of New Plymouth.
