USEFUL HINTS
To prevent food scorching put a pan containing a thin layer of sand in the bottom of the oven. Until the plumber' conics, stop a leak in the gas-pipe with a thick paste of soap, whiting and water. Olive oil placed round the root, of a fern will greatly improve its growth. Linoleum will wear longer if it is washed with equal parts of warm soapsuds and boiled starch. However clamp shoos may be, a lovely polish may bo obtained by adding a drop of paraffin oil to the blacking. This will also prevent the leather from cracking, 'The most obstinate rust stains may bo removed by holding the stain over tho spout of a boiling kettle and applying lemon jaico while the water is steaming. It may require more than one treatment, but is always successful if you persist.
