BOXING NOTES

(By “Left Hook”) The Wanganui Amateur Boxing Association has decided to hold the first contest of the new season on Saturday next, when a fine programme wall be submitted. ( Boxing enthusiasts will look forward to the clash between W. Barnes (Wellington) and Clinton (Palmerston North). The latter and Black (Wellington), it will be remembered, in June gave a display which had the audience on their feet from start to finish. It was one of the best exhibitions ever seen, and there is every reason to anticipate that the bout between Barnes and Clinton wil Ibe equally as exciting. Another good bout will be Tommy Quirke and A. Duggan (Hawera), another six-round bout, which will be full of go from gong to gong. The executive have tried for many months to ge this pair before a Wanganui audience, and have at last managed to arrange it.
