.Mr (J. M. ytrouts, manager of the local branch of the Bank of Now South Wales, has been promoted to the managership of the Mastorton office, and will lake up the appointment shortly. Mr Wt. outs will bo succeeded by Mr Corfe, of the Waverley branch. During his nine years' residence in Patea, Mr St routs has proved himself to be a citizen of the highest and best type, taking his fair share of public work. During the war period, and after, he rendered invaluable service as secretary of the local Patriotic League, his work on behalf of the returned soldiers being particularly praiseworthy. Mr Strouts nas also taken the keenest interest in amateur sport of every kind, and at present occupies the position of president of the Patea and District Amateur Athletic Association, the Patea Bowling and Coursing Clubs, besides being a prominent member of the Patea Sports Grounds Committee, Patea Domain Beard, and other local institutions. Mr Strouts' departure from the district will leave a gap that will be hard to fill.
