The same members then sat as the Waverley Domain Board. Correspondence was read as under: — Messrs Roberts and Gardener wrote on account of Air. J. L’rouso claiming two day’s wages for lime lost owing '.to delay in delivery of material when fencing for the Board. Air. Davis who was in charge of the work said that Mr. Prouse had been put on other work while waiting. Several members of the Board including himself had inspected the" work which they considered was not satisfactorily done. The Chairman said he had aKo inspected the fence in question and found several of the loose and ■wires slack. He would not consider it a good job. After some discussion it was decided to notify Messrs Roberts and Gardiner that the Board did not consider the fence a good job, but they were prepared to .leave the passing of the work to arbitration. Letters were received from the Bowling, Cricket and Tennis Clubs all asking for grants. Air. Christenson said he thought that it was time sports clubs supported .themselves. The Board had very little funds to work on. They had started the children’s playground scheme and he thought that should be -carried through before they spent any money in other dealings. It was their duty to look out for the children. Tho Chairman pointed out that the Clubs iu question made no charge for admission. They also did a lot iu beautiiiying and looking after the grounds generally. He thought they should be Jielpod if funds would permit. Mr. Duvis said that the playground was going to cost a lot of money. He was not opposed to making grants when they had the money but he thought the children should be considered first. Tho Chairman while agreeing, said that tho whole of the grounds were public property therefore it was the Board’s duty to look after the grounds. At the present time the various clubs were really doing the Board’s work, in looking after the p'ace.
