The voting for the candidates to date is as follows: Votes Southern Queen 7,112 Native ‘Queen. 5,672 Northern Queen 5,032 Whcnuakura Queen 4,232 Alton and Kakararaea Queen 3,384 Those votes represent the sum of £317/18/- made up as under: — Southern Queen £BB/18/-Nat-ive Queen £7O/18/Northern Queen £62-TB/-Whenuakura Queen 152 / LS/Alton and Kakaramea Quoea £42/6/£317/18/- * * * * POOTBALL There will be a football matci In the Patea, Domain on Wednesday, between the Alton and Whcnuakura teams. Both sides have been training hard and arc confident of good game .should therefore bo witnessed. - 'This match with the seven a side tournament next Saturday will conclude the season. * * * * NATIVE QUEEN The Native Queen Concert held in the Town Hall on Friday night proved an unqualified success, the hall being crowded not a spare seat being available in the Dress Circle at 7.45 whilst the body of the hall was well filled. The programme was an excellent one, every item being encored. The Poi dances by the Maori Queen and her troupe were perhaps the gems of the evening the rythmic motions of the dancers being greatly admired. A tiny mite created no small amount of amusment as she went through motions of the dance with the elder girls. In addition to the Poi Dances there were several realistic Hakas given, that earned for the f'crformcrs unstinted praise. The singing of Mrs. Turoa, Misses Karcra and others was excellent and was heartily appreciated by ithe large audience. At the conclusion of the concert programme the hall was cleared for dancing a most enjoyable time being spent. ***** NORTHERN QUEEN The Northern Queen’s Committee held a market day in town on Saturday, good business being done. The committee desires to tender it’s hearty thanks to all who assisted with the donations etc. The various competitions held during the day resulted as under:— Sucking Pig No. 4. Mr. F. Williams. Bag of Coal No. 3 Mr. L. Adams Table Centro No. 15 Mr. A. Pankhurst. Biscuit Barrel No. 51 Mr. W. Gough White Rabbit No. 29 Miss A. Martin Chocolates No. 50 Miss Y. Locker * * * « A reminder is given of the Hard Up Dance to be held in the Wavcrlcy Town Hall on Wdnesday next, when prizes will bo given for the most hard up costume. * # «■ ALTON AND KAKARAMEA QUEEN Kakaramea and district settlors attending to-day’s sale arc reminded that refreshments may be procured as at the previous sale the proceeds going toward the Kakaramea Queen’s funds. * * * * WHENUAKURA QUEEN A Euchre Party and Dance will be held in the Whcnuakura Factory to-mor-row night when a good muster is anticipated. ? <aSP*' Town and caountry settlers are asked ot look out for Paddy’s Market wdxieh is being held by the Whcnuakura committee in Town on Saturday next. During the war the Whcnuakura settlers were to the fore with their produce for Patriotic causes and next Saturday’s market will we believe eclipse even the war time work. All kinds of farm and garden produce will be offered for sale. « «< # SOUTHERN QUEEN. Supporters of the Southern Queen arc reminded that the Saturday’s dances will bo held in Mahoney’s Hall in place of the Foresters Hall as originally arranged.
