WAVERLEY TOWN BOARD

ORDIXARY MEETING. The ordinary meeting of the Wavcrley Town Board was held on 'Wednesday night, Air. A. .1. AdUun presiding. Messrs. F. Christensen. G. AI. Beer, F. W. Oliver were also present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The question of metal for the streets was discussed at length. Air. Christensen said the Board must have some metal to go on with, as there was not a scrap in the town at the present time. He proposed that 5U yards be procured fr on J. T. Walker. Seconded by Air. Oliver, and carried. The chairman said he hail seen the constable about the wandering stock, and lie had promised to prosecute ii' he could procure witnesses. Air. Christensen said the Board would have to employ someone especially for this work. Air. Oliver said- they should advertise for a poundkeeper. The chairman said the poundkeeper would havc to be ranger, too. The clerk said they did not have a paddock at the present time. The matter was finally luft in the hands of the chairman. Mr. Oliver brought forward the question of the footpath past the cemetery to the station. The roots of the trees were projecting through the ground. Air. Christensen said the Town Board’s length ended at 'the cemetery trees, therefore the roots came under the care of the Patea County Council. It was decided to draw the attention of the Council to this matter. The Waverloy Fire Brigade wrote asking for a light to bo erected above the fire station, and also for repairs to the station door. Air. Oliver said a light was also needed at the station. It was resolved, on the motion of Air. Davis, seconded by the chairman, that Alessrs. Christensen and Beer attend to the repairs, and that the light bo held over until the return of the Board’s engineer. Air. Christensen said the Board would have to get some tar for the footpath in front of Air. Palmer’s shop, it would need about two drums of restar. He moved that the work be done. Seconded by Air. Davis, and carried. This concluded the business of the Town Board.
