KOHI

FAREWELL TO MR. D. BOURNE

A very pleasing function took place at Kohi on Tuesday evening l ist when a large number of friends foregathered to bid farewell to Hr. D. Bourkc, who is leaving the district. The function was held under the auspices of the Wavcrlcy Football Club, of which Hr. Bourkc was a prominent member. During the evening Hr.’Powell on behalf of the residents of Kohi, took the opportunity of bidding farewell to Hr. Bourkc, whose genial personality he said they ■would all miss. Hr. Bourkc had been in the district for some time and had made a large number of friends one and all of whom would be sorry to lose him. Mr. G. if. Beer, secretary of the Waverlcy Football Club, also spoke and said Hr. Bourkc was a valuable member of the Waverlcy club and a tower of strength to the senior team. His departure from the district would be a distinct loss to the club as well as to his many friends. On behalf of the Kohi residents and Waverlcy Football Club he would ask Hr. Bourkc to accept a suit case as a slight token of the esteem in which he was held by all and in appreciation of the many services rendered by him during his stay in the district. He felt sure everyone would .wish their guest every happiness in his new sphere. (Applause.) Cheers were then given for the departing guest. Hr. Bourkc, in a brief and appropriate speech, thanked the speakers for their kind remarks and all present for the handsome gift. He assured them that during their stay in this district he had spent the most enjoyable pari of his life. He was sorry to leave them all but hoped that it would not bo long before he would be able to revisit them and enjoy their friendship once more, (Applause.) Dancing was kept up until the early hours and the singing of “Auld Bang Sync" brought a \ cry enjoyable evening to a close.
