A PLEA STAG FUNCTION Air. 'William Boyle, having disposed if his store and Post Ol’liee to Mr. Carter, of Now Plymouth, amt with his wife is shortly leaving the district, occasion was taken last Friday by tin ladies of Mountain to entertain the latter at afternoon tea in the Coronation Hall, when a pleasant hour or so was sjicnt. During the afternoon Mrs. Ginger. : n a short speech, presented Mrs. Boyle m behalf of (he people of Mountain with a beautiful amethyst and pear brooch as a mark of universal esteem md appreciation of her quiet but steady assistance in all patriotic work Airs. No less than fourteen Mann!aid buylost their lives in the dreadful war now ended—a heavy toll for this little centre —and a monument is to lie erected to the memory of these bra---, boys in the local cemetery. This site, unfortunately, is i.-ithei out of the way of public, view, and the cemetery is in a very neglected state, but it is hoped the latter defect may bo removed as the Committee have ample "funds.
