AN AMUSING BLUNDER
On a recent occasion the Prime Minister, Mr. Massey, found it necessary to cross from Paris to London at very short notice. To enable liim to get across in time, a torpedo-boat was placed at his disposal between Calais and Dover, and the Admiral-Commanding at Dover was informed by a rather casual signal, that "the Prime 'Minister will arrive in 11.M.y. this morn-
Believing that his guest was the Prime Minister of England, the Admiral ordered a Xaval Guard of Honour to bo present at the wharf, and arranged for breakfast at the best hotel in Dover.
Mr. Massey was, of course, rather llattered, if not perplexed, by the ceremonial welcome that he received when he stepped on to the wharf. He quickly apprehended that some mistake had been made. The admiral too, realised the error, but naval courtesy prompted him to go through with the formality, and the guard having been dismissed, he invited Mr. Massey to the waiting breakfast, where they both had a good laugh over the out relemps.
