VALEDICTORY.

SOCIAL AT KOHL On Wednesday last another social evening, for which this district is well noted, was held in the Kohi Hall when a very large number of people were present from all parts of the district. The function this time was to hid a formal good-bye and make ft presentation to Mr. and Mrs. Coleman and family who arc leaving the district lor Hamilton after a stay of some years during which time they have become deservedly popular throughout the district.

Mrs. Cam pbell, in making the presentation, referred in glowing terms to the sterling qualities of their departing gi csts. Mr. Coleman, she said, had always taken a keen interest in public matters and had been ably supported by Mrs. Coleman and family. Mrs. Campbell then presented Mr. Coleman with a shaving outfit, Mrs. Coleman with a silver rose bowl, Miss and Miss G. Coleman a silver clock and a silver match-box to Master Coleman, and wished them every success in their new home.

Eulogistic speeches were also made by Mr Burke and Mr. W. H. Watkins, Mr. Coleman suitably replying.

A very pleasant time was spent with cuchro, dancing and singing ; the singers being Mrs. A. O. Hemingway, Mrs. Dr. Harvey, Mr. B. W. Harvey and Mr. Aston (the latter a brother of Mrs. Eames, and who has just returned from the front after four yoars' service). The accompaniments were played by Mrs. Eames.

The ladies of the district had prepared a most bountiful supper, which was much appreciated by the large number present. The function ended by all joining in the singing of "For they are jolly good fellows" and "Auld Lang Sync."
