TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

The Taranaki Land Board held its ordinary monthly meeting on Tuesday. Present: Messrs F. Simpson (Commissioner of Crown Lands), Heslop, McCloggage and Raltenbnry. The Board was advised that there was no provision in law that morgagees should be notified of the intention of the Board to forfeit a lease over which they hold security. E. Tolme reported upon the iuspsetion of sixteen holdings, comprising an area of 11,070 acres. Improvements required to be effected, £355. Of 12 tenants required to reside only six had complied. —Defaulters will be asked to explain. ~D. Mcßeth, solicitor, wrote asking if, event of a transfer being approved from T. Hayes of sections in Oraona and Mahoe, he would be allowed to sub-let the land, as he could not reside on it.— He will be informed that there is no provision in the Laud Act to meet the application. The Wairea Road Board’s proposals for expenditure of £2O 17s 3d, accrued thirds, were approved.
