ALTOM MOTES.
(From our own Correspondent)
Last Saturday night the Farmers’ Union social committee held a meeting to wind up affairs in connection with the social held some time ago. The secretary reported a satisfactory balance in hand. . On Monday we had a mild sensation in the form of a runaway in the baker’s cart. While delivering bread the boy left the horse and cart (secured with a Clapham patent holder) on the Hursthonse road at the end ot the Hunter road, while he, on horse-back, attended to customers on the lattar road. Oa. returning he found the cart capsized and the horse gone. It bad evidently been annoyed by bot flies and*after turning round a few times, had struck tho bank and capsized the cart and galloped home. Fortunately but little damage was done to either horse or cart.
The headmaster of the local school informs me the returns of the recent proficiency examination are to hand. Of the three pupils presented Fred Hodge and Mary Armstrong gained certificates of proficiency, and Thao Foreman a certificate of competency, The election of a member of the Pataa West Road Board was held on Monday, and resulted in the return of Mr A. Pearce.
