LYNCHED BY WOMEN.
An extrao'dinary negro lynching is reported from Georgia, U.S.A. In the town of Powers Ville, a small place near Macou, a black was staled to have molested a iit '.le girl. No sooner bad the report become known than the child’s mother, assisied by twenty other women of Power s Villa, all armed with revolvers or knives, set out in chase of the negro. A few men joined the women, but by tacit consent the act of vengeance was left to the women The black was discovered hiding near a cottoa plantation, and tho women opened fire upon him, seveial shots taking effect. The negro begged piteously for his life, but no mercy was shown him, Mrs Reid, order ing the ol hers to stand by, walked within a few feet of the badly wounded man and poured tho contents of her revolver into him, killing him. The negroes of the town declare the man fled because be knew he would he killed when the hue and cry was raised, and as the child’s slory vanes in each relation it is more than probable there was no assault.
