Presbytery of Taranaki.
The Presbytery of Taranaki held its ordinary business meeting at Y/averley on Thursday, the 17th inst., and in the evening the triennial visitation of the congregation. Sanction was given to the appointment of Mr Stephen Kiddle to the district of Opunake for twelve months. Mr Spiers, Inglewood, was granted power to administer baptism in the district of Inglewood. Arrangements are to be made to supply Patea for a few months, till a suitable man is found. Mr Bertram reported progress at Eltham. Mr Hutson referred to the East road and Ohura, near Stratford, where an effort will bo made to provide religious services. Mr Osborne reported on the work being done at Tarata and Inglewood. Mr Hutson reported that a loan of £6OO at 5 per cent had been arranged for by the congregation at Stratford. An effort will be made to provide a bursary of £2O or £2.5 by the congregations within the bounds of this Presbytery. Mr Osborne spoke to his motion, of which due notice had been given, That an executive should be set up by the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand. An effort will be made this winter to hold a series of evangelistic meetings in all the congregations of Taranaki. Tho visitation of the congregation was proceeded with, and satisfactory answers given to tLe prescribed questions. The next meeting of the Pesbytery I for ordinaiy business will be held at Maworabn Thursday, 17th July, 1902, at 1 o’clock.—Star.
