FOOTBALL.
Auckland, August 8. The match, New Zealand Team v. Auckland reps., was played to-day at Potter’s paddock, 6000 people being present. The match resulted in an unexpected victory for Auckland by 11 points to 10. The following team has been chosen to represent the White Star in their ma ch against the Wanganui College, at W T anganui, oa Saturday next:— oheuhan (2), Powdell (2), Sherwood, -dcO’omisky, T. Hotter, W. Paterson, Gr. Prouse, W. Taylor, Lash, A. Palmer, 0. feymes, O’Neil, it. Hamerton, B. Jacomb, Baxter. Flayers who are unable to get away are requested to send in their names to the secretary. The Patea and Kakaramea teams met on the Domain on Friday after noon last, when, after a most exciting oattle, the former team proved victoiious by 8 points (goal from try and try, to 5 (goal from tryj. MrHirschb erg acted as referee, and proved to bo the right man in the right place. Messrs H. Powdrell (Kakaramea) and C. Hamertou (P.Aeaj officiated as touch-judges. During the second spell John Irwin received a easy kick on the head, waich rendered him tenp porarily unconscious and he had to be carried off the field, The Waveriey-Kaierau match, played at Waverley on Saturday last, resulted iu a draw, neither side scoring. Mr Emmersoa acted as referee.
