A DARING ASSAULT.
New Plymouth, Oct. 10. The premises of Muss Whitaker, dressmaker. were broken into last night by a man. He attempted to assault Miss Whitaker, who is a middle-aged woman. A long struggle ensued, until a neighbour was aroused, and on his arrival the man decamped. This morning Osborne Wall, umbrellamender, was arrested on suspicion, and remanded till Friday next. The assault has caused considerable sensation,
