From enquiries we (bI.Z. Times) have made we hud that there is little or no possibility of Sir Westby B. Perceval con-' testing the Christchurch seat in the event of the Hon Mr Beeves being appointed Agent-General, as it is generally under stood that Sir Westby has in the interests of his family decided to remain at Homo for some time. A Christchurch telegram says:—“ Mrs Flanagan, who some four years ago was, with her daughter, sentenced to death for the murder of an infant child of the latter, which sentence was subsequently commuted to one of imprisonment for life, has been released. During her imprisonment she broke down utterly in health, aut l also became mentally affected. She Wllh <y ccordingly removed to the Sunnyside -p AoylmKi. Some ladies took an interest in *Ther case, and a petition praying for her release was jinmerously signed and sent to the Government. In consequence of this and of her broken down condition she has been paidVwad. A Indy at Tooleys La,, ms very sick with bilious colic when M' C- flsler, a prominent merchant of thoitowu gaye her a bottle of Chamberlain’s Colic, and Diarrhooea Bcmedy.
