HAWKE’S DAY J.C. MEETING.

Napier, October 5. The following acceptances have been received for tbe above meeting October Handicap.

Bob Ray, Ilchester and Cartridge have been scratched for the Melbourne Cup, and Bob Ray for the Y.R.C. Derby. Owners of racing hacks are reminded that nominations for the Waverloy meeting must bo in the hands of the secretary on Saturday next. This club has still kept up on its progressive policy, and has this year completed the fencing of the entire running track. It will be noticed that the programme contains a. special event in the “Morten Memorial Stakes,” the proceeds from which race are to be devoted exclusively to the purchase and erection of a suitable fence and head-stono for the grave of the late Mr J. Morton, for many years a vice-President of the Club.
