ANOTHER PHASE OF MINISTERIAL HONOUR.

Mr Earnsbaw is opening up an apparently nice little “ hole and corner ” piece of business by a very pertinent question which appears on the Order Paper, as follows: —“Mr Earnsbaw to ask the “ Postmaster-General if he will lay “before this House the instructions issued “by the Telegraph Department to its “ officers re the forwarding of telegrams “ to and from the Hon Mr Ward and his “firm in Invercargill, or if the following “instruction has been issued to officers ‘of the Telegraph Dcpartmeu t: —‘All tele- “ grams, whether urgent, ordinary or do* “ layed, to and from theTlonJMr Ward and “ bis firm at Invercargill are to he given “ precedence and transmitted accordingly; “ —W. Gray, 28/4/93.’ ”If this is correct (ard Mr Earnsbaw would not dare to table such a question .except on very strong grounds) wo are to have opened to us a beautiful chapter of fact dealing witii another phase of the Ministerial honour of the Great Liberal Party. A Minister is to use his pol tieal power to get his private business telegrams forwarded before all others presented; so that he can wire away at “ delayed ” rates and secuie for his messages superior attention to those marked “ urgent ” by any other business man who is endeavouring to make a living, in the same, or any other, line, without the Ministerial salary as a subsidy. The action certainly is exceedingly “ liberal,’’and is worthy of a member of the Great Liberal Ministry, amongst whom honour or sincerity in an unknown quantity.
