THE BIBLE MY MOTHER GAVE TO ME.
Time —"The Flower of My Angel Mother’s Grave.” (Published by request of the officers of the Salvation Army.) I’ve a Bible at home that I very dearly prize, It brings to my mind thoughts to-day, Of a time long ago when I took a fond farewell, Of my childhood’s happy homo faraway. Yes, it brings me back the memory of the blissful days of yore, And the loved ones far across the sea, To the quiet huipble cottage where we all used to meet, ’Tis the Bible my mother gave to me. CHORDS Lingering in my memory are her loving words, And her smile I seem to see, As my eyes fondly rovo o’or the pages that I love, Of the Bible my mother gave to me. In the years that have passed since the angels called her home, To join with the Blood washed throng above, Many lessons I have learned that I never shall forget, From the pages of that book I love so v •’I. And in times of sore temptation when rny barque is tossed about Mid the breakers of life’s rough and stormy sea, 1 am still sweetly resting in the promises I iind, In the Bible my mother gave to mo. Many books I have read, but I never never found, One that could at all compare with mine ; Every page is to mo a mine of wealth untold, Every verse shines with love and truth Divine.
