[TELEGRAPHED BY REUTER] LONDON— March 4, Money Securities.—3 per cent Consols now at 97f. New Zealand securities are quoted as follows :—5 percent 10.40 loan, 104$ ; 4$ percent 1879 1904 loan, 103$; 4 per cent inscribed stock, 99£. Bank rate of discount reduced to 4 per cent, and market rate is now 3| per cent. Total reserve in the Bank of England in notes and bullion has fallen to £15,300,000, a decrease of £600,000 during the week. Proportion of reserve to liabilities 48 per cent. BreADSTUFFS. —Adelaide wheat, ex store, has risen, and is quoted at 36s per 4961bs ; New Zealand wheat, ex store, 28s to 34s ; Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, remains at 255. Tallow. —Australian tallow, average quality, beef, 33s ; and 34s for mutton. Leather. —Best sides Australian leather are worth ltd. Flax. —The New Zealand flax market continues quiet at the following quotations :—Fine quality, £2B per ton ; medium, £26 ; common, £22. Frozen Meat. —New Zealand frozen mutton, prime quality, remains at 4scl to 5d per lb. MESSES NOLAN, TONKS AND CO’S MONTHLY KEPORT. Messrs Nolan, Tonks and Co of Hawera, reported that during the past month a large number of cattle have passed through their hands, and stock, with one or two exceptions, still maintain the previous month’s quotations. With wet weather we anticipate a rise in all classes of store cattle. Sheep also have been in fair demand, although few as yet have come forward. At the ram and sheep fair every pen was occupied ; the attendance good and bidding brisk. The Shropshire rams entered by Messrs Wilson Bros brought out good competition, and sold at an average of seven guineas. Lambs in wool found a ready sale at advanced rates. At Hawera, on 19th, the yards were well filled, and there was a good attendance of buyers, and with two exceptions everything sold. At Manaia, on 26th, a great many more cattle than were advertised came forward. Prices were a shade lower than previous sales, but most of the stock were quitted at the hammer. At Opunake we had a larger entry than usual, and a better enquiry for all classes of cattle. We quote cattle at Hawera, weaners, 18a to 30s; yearlings, 32s ; yearling steers, £2 5s ; 18 months steers, £2 12s 6d * 2$ years old steers, £3 17s ; 3 year old bullocks (forward) £6 ; dry cows, £2 10s ; fat cows, £4 2s 6d. At Manaia : Weaners, 14s 6d to 18s ; yearlings, 31s ; 18-months heifers, 34s ; 2 year old steers, £3 2s 6d ; 3 year old forward bullocks, from £6 Is to £5 14s 6d ; empty cows, £2 13s 6d. At Opunake : 18 months old heifers, 355; yearling steers, £2 2s ; cows and calves, £2 16s ; empty cows, £2 13s 6d ; 6d ; forward cows, £3 10s ; dairy cows, £4. Sheep ; At Hawera, lambs in wool, 6s to 6s 3d ; ewes, 8s to 9s ; ewes and wethers mixed, 10s 7d ; wethers, 10s lid. Horses dull of sale, consequently but few offering. MR NEWTON KING’S WEEKLY AUCTION AND PRODUCE REPORT. New Plymouth. On Saturday, at the mart, fowls made le sd, potatoes Is 9d to 3s, cheese 3d to 6d, tea 18s, soap 8s Bd, sugar, 3sd. ; Haymarket Yards Pigs : slips "made 5s 6d to 6s 6d. On Saturday backs were dull, 4 were sold from £2 to £6 ; draught horses made£l3 to £25 each. Fruit —The market was bad on Tuesday. Eating apples, 7s 6d to 8s 6d ; half cases, 4s to 7s ; pears, 6s 6d to 7s ; cooking apples, 4s 6d to 6s. Cattle. —The yards were well filled on Tuesday, and nearly all were sold at satisfactorj 7 rales. Calves made 17s to 21s ; yearling steers, 32s ; 18-month steers, £2 12s to £2 15s ; cows springing, £4 to £5 10s ; cows in milk, £2 to £4. At Mrs Coleman’s, dairy cows in milk made £5 to £5 15s ; heifers £3 5s ; calves 15s i 18-months £1 18s to £2 3s. There was a large attendance at Mr Thomas Joll’s sale on Thursday, bidding was lively, and the whole dairy of over 50 cows and heifers were sold at. the hammer, 7 cows in milk good made from £4 to £8 ; heifers £3 10s (o £6 ; store cows £2 17s 6d to £3 15s 6d ; 2£ steers, £4; calves, 15s to 21s; 18-months heifers £2 3s; bullocks £8 to £lO 5s per pair ; hacks £2 10s to £3 iOa ; draught horses £2B. Produce. —Butter: I received a cable on Wednesday from Sydney, “ Market continues dull at eightpencc to tenpence.” Cocksfoot, 3sd is now top price, and buyers are very particular abeut samples.
