MONEY MARKET, Messrs Charles Pownall and Co., scriveners, Wellington, report—-“ The money market is without any change in value during the last month, interest on mortgage investments remaining at same quotations—6£ to 7| per cent—adjusted no inquiry for large loans, and the business has been principally limited to local requirements. Money is in full supply, and in the absence of any demand connected with fresh land operations, is likely to;, rule lower. It was generally expected that the sale of the Manawatu Railway sections would have been more successful, its failure being attributed to the reserve being too high and the conditions of sale too stringent, the fact being that it was placed in the market before any tendency for a new • speculative demand had fully ripened.
