WOODVILLE.
(From Our Own Correspondent. A public meeting was convened for Saturday’evening at the WoodyiMe Hotel for the purpose of discussing the advisability of opening up the Crompton Road, which leads from the Lower Ball Road through Mr A Wood’s property, to join the Manmahi Road. Mr C Syraes was voted to the chair. There was a fair attendance of ratepayers. The Chairman made a few remarks concerning the necessity of having the Crompton road opened. Mr Johnston proposed. That a Committee be appointed to interview a surveyor with the object of laying out the line of road, and that the Committee will form an estimate of cost of opening for traffic, which was carried unanimously. The following gentlemen were then proposed as_ a Committee : Messrs Foreman, P Wilson, J Merchant, T Morgan, J Gibbs, and the mover, (Mr Johnston). The meeting then terminated. The Committee then met. Mr 1 Morgan was voted to ; thediair. It was resolved, That the Chairman; see a surveyor at once, and get line laid off ready for the Committee’s Inspection. • ;
