—♦— Mr W. Cowrrn’s Lincoln-street sale was a great improvement on any that have been held for months past, most of the jots being sold, in some instances at very fair prices. The attendance was largo. . At Messrs Nolan, Tonks, and Co.’s Manaia sale on Thursday, there was a large attendance, and the yards were well filled with atocjk: Bidding was somelarge number of horses were sold without reserve, and fetched fair prices. In Auckland, sheep are in short supply, lambs being very scarce ;-and that market having to depend almost on the coast supply, former prices still rule. Messrs Hunter and Nolan quote—wethers, from 19s 6d to £1 3s 6d ; ewes, 16s to 18s 6d ; lambs, 9s to 16s each. ■ The following cablegram has been received in Wellington by Murray, Roberts and Co., dated London, October 4th : "Sales have closed dull. 68,000 bales have been bought in, and are held in first hands."
