HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

The annual meeting of members of the Patea Horticnltural Society was held -at Mr H. E. P. Adams’ rooms on Friday evening, when there were present —Messrs H. E. P. Adams, A. W. Williamson, James Williamson, J. Eiseley, J. Patterson, C. F. Barker and C. Orchard. Mr Barker having been voted to the chair, a statement of the financial position of the society was read, which showed it to have £4 I3s lid toils credit. The election of officers was then proceeded with, with the following result:—■ President, Major Turner ; secretary and treasurer, Mr H E P Adams; committee, Messrs Patterson, Wood, James Williamson, Barker, Bright, A. W. Williamson and Orchard, It was decided to hold the Spring Show in'the. middle of November and the Autumn Show about the end of February. On the motion of Mr Adams it was resolved to add to the rules one to the effect that any prize unclaimed within one month after a show be forfeited. As the society have no rule empowering the committee, should any vacancy occur in themselves, to fill the same, it was resolved to give them the necessary authority. It was decided to offer a prize, open to all comers, professionals or amateurs, for the best collection of pot plants, two to compete or no prize. The meeting then adjourned.
