TO THE EDITOR Sir, —As one interested in the welfare of the Institute I should be glad to be enlightened on the following points: —lst.' Who are the committee appointed to manage j the affairs of the Patea Institute? 2nd. Why is the readingrroom kept always at. freezing point? 3rd. How is if 1 that there are subscriptions outstanding to the amount ! of about £l4, in an institution whefe membership is constituted ,by payment in advance? 4th. What,, is j done. with; ther money of those who pay-? ! sth. What has become of the programme issued by the present committee om election ? ‘ 6th. When do they intend to Carry, this programme into effect ?; 7th; I)o you believe the committee cam answer the foregoing questions to the satisfaction of the subscribers ? , I think, sir, - that' I'have asked you! enough questions at this time, so 'I will finish by offering a'suggestion for tip? consideration of the Oorhraittee. If ; there is no money to buy ; coals ; or fire-, wood, stop some of the papers to provide; it, as I fail to see the use of a lot of papers on the tables if people cannot sit down and read them on account of the cold.—Yours &c., Subscriber.
