ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
A meeting of persons interested in acclimatisation matters was held at the Australasian Hotel last evening. Present : Messrs Norman, Tenuent, Pearce, Adams and Barker. Mr Tennent was voted to the chair, on the motion of Mr Barker. It was resolved “That Messrs Tennent, Pearce, Norman, Shields, R. Horner and the mover be a committee.” Mr Adams was elected secretary, and Mr Tennent treasurer. Mr Barker proposed—That the secretary be requested to advertise that licenses to shoot and sell game in the Patca County can be obtained at the post offices, Patca and Waverloy,” Carried. Mr Tennent proposed “ That the police be asked to take (he necessary steps to strictly enforce the penalty for shooting or selling game without license, and that members of the Society be requested to give every information to the police in furtherance of this object.” Carried. It was agreed that the money received by the Society would be expended on importing English partridges and hares, and there being no further business on hand, the meeting then adjourned.
